Laura White is an Australian realist painter known for her luminous still-life oil paintings that explore the quiet beauty of everyday objects. Working from her studio in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, White creates carefully composed paintings that draw inspiration from the natural world, the garden, and her long-standing fascination with ceramics. Her work frequently features seasonal botanicals, heirloom fruit, and decorative vessels, rendered with a sensitivity to light, colour and atmosphere.

White’s paintings are built through multiple layers of oil paint and translucent glazes, a process that allows subtle tonal shifts and depth to emerge over time. By keeping her compositions restrained and uncluttered, she allows each subject space to breathe, inviting viewers to slow down and notice the textures, reflections and delicate imperfections of the objects before them

Through painting, I slow down and study the way light travels across a glazed surface, how colours shift within the folds of a petal, or how reflections distort within a curved jar. By building the surface of the painting with layered oils and translucent glazes, I attempt to recreate that sense of depth and luminosity.
In a fast-moving world, these paintings invite the viewer to pause and rediscover the quiet elegance that exists in ordinary moments
